There is no ‘Perfect Time’
As many people know, I have decided to run for Missouri House District 136. Deciding to run was not an easy decision, but it was something that has been on my mind for some time. Choosing to run while completing my doctoral research might not be the ideal time – on top of recently finding out my wife is pregnant – however, there is never a perfect time. As we have witnessed democracy be continually attacked, a fair election disputed, and Republicans at all levels subvert their constituents’ wishes; it is time for decency, intelligence, and modern views to be at the forefront of Missouri politics. Yesterday, a Representative did not attend to take their oath of office, but rather attend a Trump rally where two people died, and the People’s House was vandalized in disgrace. How does that represent Missouri? All the while, Missouri’s junior Senator campaigned on the continued objection to the certification of the President-elect, after the carnage but amogst the broken glass and left behind MAGA hats.
This has been on the mind of everyone, but continues to motivate me to run for office. We are better than this and we need our representatives to be held to a hire standard.
Now I really need to continue to get back to my IRB checklist.
